Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp Chili powder
  • ¼ tsp Garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp Onion powder
  • ¼ tsp Crushed red pepper flakes to taste, depending on how hot you like it
  • ¼ tsp Dried oregano
  • ½ tsp Coriander
  • ½ tsp Paprika
  • 1 ½ tsp Ground cumin
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Pepper
  • ½ Tbsp Flour or cornstarch for a thickener

Instructions

Taco Seasoning

  • In a small bowl, combine all ingredients together.
  • This makes enough to use with 1-lb of ground beef.
  • Make about a cup of this mixture at a time so it's ready to use whenever you crave tacos. Just make sure you use the same multiplier for each spice to maintain the proper ratio. Then store it in a mason jar.

To make tacos

  • In a skillet, brown 1-lb ground beef until no pink is showing.
  • Add ½ cup of water and stir to rinse grease off meat. Then drain grease and water from skillet. (I tilt the skillet, scoop the meat to the high side, spoon the liquid into a mug and allow to cool before pouring into the garbage.)
  • Sprinkle 2 ½ tbsp of taco seasoning over meat.
  • Add 1 cup of water and stir.
  • Reduce heat and allow to simmer until the water has cooked down.
  • Assemble tacos using your favourite shells and toppings.
All the usual fillings for tacos - seasoned hamburger, cheese, lettuce, tomato, salsa
  • Suggested toppings – Cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, salsa, sour cream
