Decorating

“Have nothing in your home that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.”

William morris, poet

Your home is your space where you can express yourself and feel comfortable. How you decorate it depends on your preferred style.

Here are a few tips to help make any style work.

Decorating Tips

  • Avoid trendy furniture. This can become very expensive. A classic, simple style will last through any trend.
    • Use pillows, blankets and other smaller items to change up a room.
  • Buy quality over quantity. Furniture is an investment. When you find something you really like, buy quality product so it will last.
    • Buy solid wood furniture instead of pressed wood. It might cost more but in the long run you will save.
  • Keep “stuff” to a minimum. Don’t allow your house to get cluttered with things you don’t need or use.
  • Have a place for everything. If you find something you really like, but don’t have anywhere to put it, don’t buy it. Or replace something you already have with the new item.
  • Use your storage space. Keep extra things you can’t possibly part with in storage. Switch them out with other items in your house to change up a room occasionally or seasonally.
