Holly Candy

This marshmallow and cereal treat will add festive colour to your treat tray. The kids will enjoy making and eating holly candy. Makes 16 pieces.

Equipment

  • 1 Medium saucepan

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup Butter or hard margarine
  • 5 cups Miniature marshmallows 250 g
  • 4-5 cups Cornflake cereal
  • Green food colouring
  • Sprinkles

Instructions

  • Place a piece of parchment paper or wax paper on the counter to spoon mixture onto.
  • Melt butter in a medium (3 L) saucepan over medium heat.
  • Add marshmallows and a few drops of green food colouring to get the green you want. Stirring constantly, heat until the marshmallows are heated through. When ready, the mixture will change from a blob of marshmallow to a creamy consistency.
  • Remove from heat and add cornflakes. Stir until cereal is evenly coated.
  • Using greased tablespoons and working quickly, drop mounds of mixture onto parchment paper. You can shape the mounds as needed with your hands.
  • Add a few sprinkles and red gummy berries to top of mounds.
