3 R’s to help you through the COVID-19 Pandemic

Our world has changed dramatically in the past couple of weeks. As a result, I would say everyone is now experiencing a new life situation. For sure, we are all spending most of our time at home.

We don’t know how long this will last, but I would like to share a few thoughts with you – 3 Rs that may help you through the COVID-19 pandemic – recharge, reconnect, refresh.

Recharge

Life has us so busy I think it’s pretty normal to have projects that we want to get done, but just don’t have the time to do. You may be saying, “Now that I have to be home, I can get those projects done.” But you’ve been social distancing for almost two weeks and you haven’t even started them!

I stepped away from the workplace a couple years ago with big plans. But at first I couldn’t get motivated. I was wore out. After a while, I started to feel motivated, focused, determined. I had recharged.

Guess what? You may need to recharge too! Don’t feel bad. Take this time to relax a bit, sleep in, be lazy… for a while… then get on with those projects. Be productive in your home. Declutter, organize, clean and teach your children life skills.

Reconnect

Take this opportunity to reconnect with those you live with. Get to know each other better!

Now that you are all home, pull out a board game or a puzzle. Make a meal together, talk to each other and do projects together.

Teach your children life skills – laundry, cooking, baking and cleaning. This will really pay off for you when you all get back into your routines.

Refresh

With all the negatives associated with COVID-19, wouldn’t it be great if in the end it actually made our lives simpler? Better? Less hurried? More focused on the truly important things?

Think of this as the refresh button on your computer. You’ve made some changes to your lifestyle. You’ve decided you don’t have to be busy all the time. In fact you like a little down time.

You’ve got the laundry caught up or started meal planning or decluttered and organized – things that you want to keep doing and maintain once things get back to normal.

Hit refresh. And carry on.
