This simple stockinette and garter stitch pattern makes a tightly knit dishcloth that will not stretch out of shape. I match this dishcloth pattern with this oven door towel.

Use 100% cotton dishcloth yarn and US 5 (3.75 mm) needles for a tighter knit.

Instructions

  • Cast on 38 stitches.
  • Rows 1- 4           Knit.
  • Row 5                  Knit.
  • Row 6                  Knit 3, purl to last 3 stitches, knit to end.
  • Rows 7-10           Repeat rows 5 and 6 twice.
  • Rows 11-50         Repeat rows 1-10 four times.
  • Rows 51-55           Knit.
  • Cast off.
