Simple Stovetop Rice
Don't have a rice cooker? No problem. You don't need one! Here is a foolproof way to make rice on the stove top.

- 1 cup Long grain rice
- 1 ¾ cups Water
- ½ tsp Salt
- 1 tbsp Butter
Rinse rice in a strainer.
Place in stainless steel pot.
Add water, salt and butter.
Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
Boil for about two minutes, then reduce heat to low.
Cover and let cook for 30 minutes without lifting the lid.
When water is completely absorbed the rice is cooked.
Turn off heat and let stand until ready to serve.
Cook rice with a 1.75 water : 1 rice ratio. This recipe is easily multiplied to make for a larger crowd. Adjust salt to taste. Be sure to adjust saucepan size for larger quantities.
Variations: Add chicken bouillon or other seasonings for added flavour.
