Oven Door Towel - Basket Weave Knitting Pattern

Use 100% cotton yarn, as you would with a dishcloth. Use 8 US (5 mm) knitting needles.

Instructions

  • Cast on 60 stitches.
  • Row 1-4: Knit 4 rows.
  • Row 5: K3 *P3, K3* to last 3 stitches, K3.
  • Row 6: K3 *K3, P3* to last 3 stitches, K3.
  • Row 7 and 8: Repeat rows 5 and 6.
  • Row 9: K3 *K3, P3* to last 3 stitches, K3.
  • Row 10: K3 *P3, K3* to last 3 stitches, K3.
  • Rows 11 and 12: Repeat rows 9 and 10.
  • Rows 13-68: Repeat rows 5-12 seven times (now you have 68 rows).
  • Row 69: K2tog to end (30 stitches left).
  • Row 70: Knit.
  • Row 71: K2tog (15 stitches left).
  • Row 72: Knit.
  • Row 72: K2tog, K2tog, K9, K2tog (12 stitches left).
  • Row 74-101: Knit 28 rows.
  • Row 102: K4, K2tog, K2tog, K4 (make sure gap is in the middle of row).
  • Row 103: K5, YO, YO, K5.
  • Row 104: K6, P1, K5 (now you have a buttonhole).
  • Row 105: K2tog, K to last 2 stitches, SSK.
  • Row 106: Knit.
  • Repeat rows 105 and 106 until 8 stitches left on needle.
  • Cast off, weave in ends, and sew button on.
