Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

An old-fashioned soft and chewy cookie.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp Baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp Nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp Ground cloves
  • 3/4 cup Butter softened
  • 1 1/2 cups Brown sugar packed
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups Oats*
  • 1 cup Raisins

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F.
  • In a medium bowl combine flour, baking soda, salt and spices and set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl mix butter and sugar. Then beat in eggs one at a time. Add vanilla and mix.
  • Stir in flour mixture.
  • Stir in oats and raisins.
  • Drop teaspoonfuls onto a cookie sheet about two inches apart.
  • Bake at 375°F for 10-12 minutes.

Notes

Old-fashioned rolled oats give the best texture and taste in baking. Quick-cook and instant oats have been precooked and dried, so they absorb moisture faster and may make your treats turn out dry or crumbly. ~ Anna Olson, Back to Baking
